Oh my goodness me another wonderful moment, I watched the Handles Messiah and what a great video, I have never heard of a kazzoo before, all very new to me, but it sounds like what we used to do as kids with grass and a comb.

Katie...I use to do that with a blade of grass between my thumbs also. Or a comb with wax paper...we used tin cans and bailing twine to make stilts too, childhood games, nothing like nowadays.

it was really a beautiful lunch (picnic, sack, nose sack) and great to be in the hills as we live in town with houses all around us.  I'm kinda like Lou on that account, the wide open sounds real good ... that's why we like having the forest so...

This past Sunday we, sbevis and myself, traveled to our son's house to visit with our premie grandson for a few minutes and then travel on to Burden Falls for a sack lunch in the wilderness ... quite a beautiful day  but we were soon taken over...

No Brookfield Zoo is not very close to us but the St. Louis Zoo is and they have penguins too...check this out.  I think we will have to maybe the next time we are in St. Louis!

That march of the penguins reminds me of the Edinburgh Zoo, where they do the same thing with their penguins (I posted about it here ) And I LOVED the mosaic in the link you posted! Wish I could buy something like that....

Check out this video from Brookfield Zoo in honor of national penguin awareness day (even though it was 6 days ago).  The newscaster gets to feed the penguins...what a treat.  It is still a good watch! ...

That sounds lovely and I envy you have such a beautiful place near to where you live. Do you mind me asking, is a sack lunch the same as a picnic?   And what is repelling?  I'm just nosy really!! Lovely pictures though.

well ... the sack lunch would have been more like a picnic if we had thought about it before hand and packed one from home, but it was a last minute plan (some times those are the best) and stopped at a country store and they made us up some great...

That sound like a great time even with the bugs,, I miss the hills and mountains of southeast Oklahoma,, we would take a link of summer sausage, hot cheese and crackers,, bottle of wine (not Leo’s best) stop and watch the trees turn colors.....

lovely pic Sube have something similar here in Norfolk - so peaceful and tranquil you never want the road to end - tis in the woods so often if we are that way we do stop and have a picnic

I have walked many dirt roads in my life,, SuBe,, Where I was raised that was the only roads around,, I still remember an old man with a tractor pulling a log down the center of the road to level it after hard rain or the winter months,, It does bring...

Reference: Grandpa even let me drive it part of the time (don't tell anyone). I used to be allowed to drive the tractor...i even managed to keep it going in a straight line while my dad loaded the straw bales on the trailer on the back....and tractor...

beautifully written, lou   I think many would trade it in for a simpler life like it use to be, even with all the chores we had to do back then compared to the new fangled methods to getting things done with less work nowadays.
