We'd have some local council official come knock them for 'Health and Safety' reasons over here....just in case one of them collapsed and someone (anyone) got sued!

Looks like great fun but I worry about such things. Can they not collapse in on the kids?  I get my worries from incidents of children being killed in tunnels built in sand.

I did think the same James cos there was a little girl killed on the beach where we go in Cornwall a couple of years ago when a sand tunnel collapsed on her

You know part of having fun when you’re a kid is the possibility of the danger or the unknown..and sometimes it turns out bad,, which is sad,,,but that what we remember as a child,, the exciting part of life...  I need to tell...

I agree Lou, some of the most dangerous things as kids was the most fun ... jumping out of the barn loft when a wee one, climbing to the top of the tallest tree, etc, those were the days!  But even as we drove off from taking this picture we were...

Think all parents have those concerns and they always lead toward the bad things that could happen… but we as human got to have that excitement or thrill in our life,, I think that’s why the fun parks like Disney World do such a good...

I know what you mean ... my brothers are 4 and 6 years older than me and I was forever and a day always trying to keep up with them.  We would have corn cob fights, knowing full well they could throw a LOT harder, I would still be in there...

There was one between you and Lori....bascially i said did loads of silly dangerous stuff when i was a kid that i would now kill my kids if I caught them doing the same stuff!

lovely pic Sube have something similar here in Norfolk - so peaceful and tranquil you never want the road to end - tis in the woods so often if we are that way we do stop and have a picnic

I have walked many dirt roads in my life,, SuBe,, Where I was raised that was the only roads around,, I still remember an old man with a tractor pulling a log down the center of the road to level it after hard rain or the winter months,, It does bring...

Reference: Grandpa even let me drive it part of the time (don't tell anyone). I used to be allowed to drive the tractor...i even managed to keep it going in a straight line while my dad loaded the straw bales on the trailer on the back....and tractor...

Well you got me thinking, SuBe, everyone knows that could be dangerous for me but this old road does take me back,, hope you enjoy it. . Just an old dirt road Take you places you wanted to go Sometimes into town Just to window shop and walk around Now...

beautifully written, lou   I think many would trade it in for a simpler life like it use to be, even with all the chores we had to do back then compared to the new fangled methods to getting things done with less work nowadays.

Ever wonder what happens to those huge piles of snow that are created  at the shopping centers when the parking lots are cleared off?  These kids used their imagination and muscle power to make tunnels that met from different directions....
